The single-minded objective of the Foundation is to work selflessly with devotion for peace and welfare of humanity by impacting the body, mind and soul.

For more than a decade, Srei Foundation has provided humanitarian and development assistance to the people of India.
We have implemented some highly successful Innovative Programmes and some milestones are given in this brochure. We are working closely to fulfill the 17 Sustainable Development goals to make a better world.

Our Story

Srei Foundation is a Public Charitable Trust founded in the year 2009. It is a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of United Nations. The work done by Srei Foundation in furtherance of the Sustainable Development Goals is recognised in all the member countries of the United Nations Economic & Social Council.

A world free of struggle and poverty and filled with love, happiness, peace, prosperity and good health. A vibrant world with awakened and ignited minds, a Nation with growth and development imbibing Humanity and Spirituality in all facets of everyday life.

Mission

To serve society and humanity with a view to bring about a change in the attitude by following a path of righteousness in fostering peace, harmony and brotherhood to build a sustainable society. To live and let live in a united world encompassing and respecting all other religions and human values while embracing economic growth for the development of the Nation.

Aims & Objectives

SAMARPAN

To support and rehabilitate the acid attack survivors, for the first time in India, Srei Foundation has set up an outlet in Kolkata known as “SAMARPAN”. The purpose of this outlet is to promote and sell the handicrafts and other useful items made by the survivors from clothes and dresses donated to them.

SWAYANGSIDDHA Rehabilitation of Rescued Trafficked Women

Srei Foundation ensures “Women Empowerment” by initiating the rehabilation of rescued women who were trafficked from South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. The SWAYANGSIDDHA programme was implemented in association with North 24 Parganas Police Department and Goranbose Gram Bikas Kendra (GGBK).

Solar Charkha Mission

For empowering women of rural India, Srei Foundation launched “The Solar Charkha Mission” at Baraiya, a village in Bihar in April 2018. The solar charkhas are being financed and installed for the first time in the respective houses of that area, enabling the rural women to become self-dependent and economically independent.

SIRAGU Wings of Change

SIRAGU is a not-for-profit venture of Srei Foundation for public welfare and charity which aims to empower women by providing them a unique platform for self development and independence. SIRAGU is focused on the upliftment of women living in the urban slums and survivors of acid violence. The participants of this unique programme are being provided vocational training like sewing, making of jute, paper bags, greeting cards, mehendi paintings etc.

Eye Treatment at Sankar Netralaya

With the support and kind patronage of Dr. S. S. Badrinath, the Founder of Shankar Netralaya (Medical Research Foundation) Chennai, Srei Foundation provides specialised eye treatment.

Developing Sustainable Townships

Sustainable development cannot be achieved without significantly transforming the way we build and manage urban spaces. Srei Foundation provides safe, resilient and affordable housing facilities ensuring clean and green environment. In line with the approved Government model for Public Private Partnership, Srei Foundation associates with Asansol Durgapur Development Authority, Govt. of West Bengal.

Sustainable Infrastructure Projects

Srei Foundation believes in the development of sustainable Infrastructure Projects by taking care of conservation, management and usage of the natural and human resources, environment and society. It encourages developing infrastructure projects, which benefit the entire nation and has a larger impact on the life and livelihood of people across multiple strata of the society.

Distribution of affordable, renewable and dependable energy

Srei Foundation provides solar-based electrification for the economic development and sustainability of underprivileged people of rural India. By utilizing solar power the Foundation brings electricity to hundreds of remote villages of rural Bengal and Bihar. This rural electrification project helps in Entrepreneurship Development and Rural Electrification. The Foundation helps to create rural business hubs at each Panchayat.

Production and Distribution of Agricultural Products

For the production and distribution of agricultural products, Srei forms the large agriculture conglomerate, which supports over 500 marginalised families. This project is based 40 kms. away from Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. It aims to provide holistic all-year-round development and upliftment of primarily backward tribal area.

Skill Development Initiative Schemes

Since 2013, Srei Foundation has initiated vocational and skill development programmes at Falta, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Vocational training on different industrial trades has been provided to the local youths, mostly unemployed and underprivileged at free of cost.

Distribution of Purified Water

Srei Foundation in association with Swach Environment and Veolia Water India provides 24 X 7 interrupted water supply services to 1.07 m. people at the command area of Nangloi. This project covers 129 sq km area under the jurisdiction of Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The project includes rehabilitation & expansion of water, supply and management of transmission & distribution network.

Computer Training Hub

Training Centres have been started for conducting Courses on Computer Concept (CCC) and Basic Computer Course (BCC). With the support of Inner Wheel Club, Kolkata, a computer training centre has also been opened for the acid attack survivors and disadvantaged women.

Educational Support through Scholarships & Financial Assistance

Srihari Global IISD Foundation, an initiative of Srei Foundation provides, necessary guidance and training supports to the underprivileged people aspiring to get Govt. jobs by organising preparatory courses for job oriented competitive examinations absolutely at free of cost. It also provides necessary support to a school of underprivileged children located at the slums of Tiljala area, Kolkata.

Free Health Services Clinic

Free medical treatments are being provided to the local people through Allopathic and Homeopathic clinics. Medicines prescribed by the reputed doctors are also provided to the patients at free of cost. As of now free medical treatments have been provided to more than 25,000 patients.

Beautician Course for Underprivileged Women

Recently at Kolkata, Srei Foundation organised a beautician course for socially challenged women, in collaboration with LA College of Creative Arts. To give this skill development training, the team of trainers travelled all the way from Ireland to provide the training. The foundation strongly believes that on successful completion of this unique state-of-the-art course these underprivileged women will able to regain their social position by achieving self sustainability through the fulfilment of their long cherished dream of being a skilled beautician.

Sathyabama University, Chennai

The Foundation also supports some of its acid attack survivors to pursue undergraduate and post graduation education at Satyabhama University, Chennai by incurring all the incidental expenses. Laptops have been provided to each survivor, so that they can carry on their studies in a seamless manner.

Recycling initiative

In collaboration with SIFE SSCBS (an international not-for-profit organization), Srei Foundation started Project Akshar which aims at making optimum utilization of resources. By reusing the waste papers, affordable notebooks are being made. The notebooks are being made by a financially backward group of deaf women in Delhi. These women, under the aegis of the Delhi Foundation for Deaf Women, have been imparted book binding skills by SIFE SSCBS, to ensure a sustainable source of income for them.

To prevent Global Warming and Climate Change

Srei Foundation demonstrates its commitment to the environment by fighting against global warming, which causes climatic change. It introduces innovative solutions to diminish harmful emission around the globe and thereby reducing its damaging effects on the environment.

Plantation drive

Planting trees is an effective way of countering carbon emissions from business and mitigating the harmful effect of carbon emissions. Srei Foundation undertakes massive tree plantation drive in Tamil Nadu, Haryana and West Bengal. Tree Saplings are being procured from the Forest Department and various nurseries for plantation.

Cleaning of Lakes and Water bodies

Over the years, Srei Foundation has undertaken various initiatives to clean the environment. Some of the recent initiatives are: Santragachi Jheel, South Bengal's largest lake for migratory birds, was gradually getting choked by hyacinth and as a consequence reducing the advent of the migratory birds.

Skill Development Scheme for Women

A Sewing & Embroidery Training Centre for women empowerment has been set up to help women to achieve self-reliance and financial independence by providing vocational training. On successful completion of the course, the women can be self sufficient and earn their livelihood to support the family.

Anti Drug Awareness Campaign

Through the informal communication and entertainment channels, Srei Foundation creates social awareness on Drug Addiction and weans the youth away from the usage of these products through Anti-Drug awareness campaigns. Top level police officials join hands with the volunteers to whole-heartedly support this initiative.

Animal Care Home

Since last 7 years, Srei Foundation is running an Animal Shelter in Rajarhat area of Kolkata, West Bengal. In this animal care center, on-spot treatment at the accident site, hospitalization and post hospitalization care are being provided to cows, buffaloes, goats and dogs that have fallen victim to speeding vehicles. Through this initiative, the foundation ensures proper care .

Rain Water Harvesting

Srei Foundation promoted water conservation through rainwater harvesting technology at various construction project sites. This reduces the need for imported water during construction activities at the project sites to optimise the usage of the natural resources to reduce the risk of flooding, storm water run off and erosion.
